Privacy policy

The short version

Who runs this site

This site is operated by DLS Image, based in Texas, United States. Questions about this policy go to contact@dlsimage.com.

Your photos

The metadata tool on this site does all of its work inside your browser tab, on your own device. When you drop a photo onto the page, JavaScript already loaded in your browser reads that file, removes the metadata, and hands the cleaned copy back to you as a download.

At no point is the file, or any part of the file, transmitted anywhere. This is not a policy commitment that could be quietly changed. It is how the page is built: it contains no upload mechanism, no server-side code, and no network requests of any kind.

Nothing about your photos is stored on your device either. The page does not use cookies, local storage, session storage, or any other browser storage. Close the tab and every trace of what you did is gone.

You can verify this yourself in about a minute. Load the page, then disconnect your device from the internet entirely, then clean a photo. It works normally. A page that was sending your files somewhere could not.

Server logs

This site is hosted with IONOS. Like nearly every web host, IONOS records an access log entry each time a page or file is requested from the server. This happens at the hosting layer and applies to the page itself, not to anything you do with it afterward.

A log entry typically contains:

These logs record that a page was loaded. They contain nothing about the photos you process, because the photos never reach the server. IONOS retains this log data for a maximum of eight weeks, after which it is deleted.

These logs are not reviewed, analyzed, profiled, combined with anything else, or shared with anyone. They exist because they are a standard part of running a web server, not because they are wanted.

Why mention this at all? Because saying "we collect absolutely nothing" would be a small lie, and a privacy tool that shades the truth about its own privacy is not worth trusting. The photos genuinely never leave your device. The fact that a web server logged the page request is separate, ordinary, and worth stating plainly.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

There are none. No cookies are set. No analytics service is used, including Google Analytics. No advertising network, tag manager, pixel, session recorder, or heat map is present.

The page also loads nothing from third-party servers. There are no external stylesheets, no hosted web fonts, and no content delivery networks. Every part of the page arrives from this site and nowhere else, which means no other company learns you visited by way of a font or a script request.

If you email

If you write to contact@dlsimage.com, that message and your email address sit in an ordinary email account for as long as needed to answer you and keep a record of the correspondence.

Your address is not added to a mailing list, not used for marketing you did not ask for, and not passed to anyone. Ask for a message to be deleted and it will be.

Children

This site is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. Because nothing is collected from anyone, no personal information is knowingly collected from children either.

Your rights

Privacy laws in various places give people the right to see, correct, or delete the personal information a business holds about them, and to object to it being sold or shared.

There is very little to exercise those rights against here. No account exists, no profile is built, and no personal information is collected through use of the tool. Server logs are retained briefly by the host and are not tied to any identity.

If you have emailed and want that correspondence deleted, write to hello@dlsimage.com and it will be handled. Personal information is never sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising, and never has been.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Any change that would alter how the tool handles your files would be stated at the top of the page, not buried in a paragraph. Nothing of the kind is planned, since the design of the tool does not allow for it.
